Undergraduate Work

Introduction
In June 2002, I completed my undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Computer Engineering / Computer Science, at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Here's a list of selected uni projects and assignments that I have decided to make available on-line... Feel free to email me (webcontact@geoffknagge.com) with any questions or comments. Click on the headings to view individual assignments.

Oh, just one more thing : You'd do yourself a favour by getting hold of a web browser that supports style sheets. That way, you'll appreciate all the pretty coloured headings, and you won't see this annoying message!!

Final Year (2002)

ASIC Design for Signal Processing

Final year honours project, completed with Bell Labs Australia.

Third Year (2000)

Digital Subscriber Loop

This was the research project for ELEC351 (Telecommunications). It describes how the DSL and ADSL technologies use standard telephone lines to deliver high bandwidth data transfer.

Design of a temperature sensor

The aim was to use the thermal properties of transistor junctions to produce a linear output representing the temperature, with a hysteresis style logic signal to warn of overheating.

Second Year (1999)

Office Security System

This was the major project for ELEC270 (Computer Engineering II). The design problem was to implement a security system using an 8085A microprocessor and various bits of hardware interfaced to the motherboard.

Java Applets

Some of the Java applets on this site are assignments from SENG111 and SENG112 (Software Engineering), done in my second year. The assignments were originally applications, but have been converted to applets so that they can be shown off online...

First Year (1998)

Design for an Electronic Voting Machine

A digital logic design project for ELEC170 (Computer Engineering I), making use of a piece of simulation software called Multimedia Logic

USB (Universal Serial Bus) : What it does and How it works

An assignment I did for ELEC101 (Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering) in second semester 1998.
